For folks looking to become a certified beer judge, there will be one
more Seattle area Beer Judge Certification Program study group prior
to the exam framework restructures for the new 2015 BJCP guidelines.
This is your last chance to get into the program or retake the exam
prior to the addition of the new styles and modification of existing
styles.  In addition to covering the 2008 guidelines and everything
you’ll need to pass the online exam and subsequent tasting exam, the
study group will also cover some of the new styles recognized under
the 2015 guidelines.

The study group will run Monday evenings in Kent, WA at Airways
Brewery from mid-August to Mid-October in preparation for exams held
at the end of the month.  The class will be taught by Master judges
Mark Emiley and Peter Twigg who will walk you through the basics of
judging, provide you the information you’ll need to pass the online
exam, and help you explore the details of the numerous styles in the
guidelines to prepare you to take the tasting exam which formally will
bring you into the BJCP program.

There will be nine sessions running from 6:30-8:30/9:00 pm from August
17th to Oct 12th.  It isn’t necessary to show up for all sessions to
pass the exam (we record all of the classes so you can listen to them
afterwards if you missed them or want to review).  The fee for each
class will be $10 to cover tasting beers and class materials ($50
deposit due at first class).

If you are interested in the class, go to
https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/BXV7CNR and fill out the form (contact
information and judging/brewing background information).  If you have
any questions, contact Mark Emiley at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
